Description
AMC8是美国高中数学竞赛，由美国数学协会(MAA)组织，针对八年级以下学生的数学科测试，有些小学四～六年级的优秀学生也可以参加，该竞赛开始于1985年，于每年11月中旬的一个星期二举行。AMC8竞赛内容与美国7、8年级数学大纲相对应，包括（但不局限于）整数、分数、小数、百分数、比例、数论、日常的几何、面积、体积、概率及统计、逻辑推理等。
为帮助学生们复习参加AMC8竞赛，我们设计了一个由 三个部分 组成的竞赛培训课程：在课程的第一部分，学生们将学习AMC8竞赛中所涉及的 代数 和 数论 知识；在课程的 第二部分 ，学生们将学习 几何、组合、概率和统计 的相关知识；在课程的 第三部分 ，重点讲解 应试策略 并进行 模考 。在整个课程中，教师将使用所有AMC8往届真题作为例题和练习题。
虽然本课程面向AMC8竞赛，但教师所讲授的许多知识点和技能可以帮学生们备考其他许多美国数学竞赛，如：Mathcounts, AMC 10/12；也能够为学生们进一步学习高中数学知识打下扎实的基础。
适合人群：7-8年级以及以下年级学生
AMC8培训班为4-6人小班，满4人开班。

Ms. Tan, Founder of Joy Education Consultant. Over 20 years of fortune 500 company working experience. Master in Chemical Engineering from Univ. of Colorado at Boulder. Ms. Tan has taught mathematics for elementary and middle school for 15 years. She taught contest math at local Chinese schools and Idea Math in Texas and helped lots of students improve their test scores. She is also a Girl Scout troop leader, various school and community events volunteer.
关于AMC 8数学竞赛：
The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. Students apply classroom skills to unique problem-solving challenges in a low-stress and friendly environment.
The material covered on the AMC 8 includes topics from a typical middle school mathematics curriculum. Possible topics include but are not limited to: counting and probability, estimation, proportional reasoning, elementary geometry including the Pythagorean Theorem, spatial visualization, everyday applications, and reading and interpreting graphs and tables. In addition some of the later questions may involve linear or quadratic functions and equations, coordinate geometry, and other topics traditionally covered in a beginning algebra course.
The AMC 8 is also available in French, Spanish, large print, and braille.
